Editorial policy

Prismly publishes educational calculators and guides about population, housing and local-data comparisons.

Methods and input definitions

Calculator pages explain the variables, units and arithmetic used. Worked examples identify their inputs so readers can reproduce the result. Population growth compares endpoint counts; annualized growth summarizes the interval rather than describing every year. Density uses land area. Housing vacancy uses total and occupied units and does not identify which vacant homes are offered for rent.

Sources and illustrative figures

Where helpful, pages link to primary references such as U.S. Census Bureau datasets. Readers should check the source’s geographic unit, reference period, definition and any boundary revision. A reference link does not imply endorsement. Example counts are illustrative unless a page names a dataset, geography and period. The calculators do not automatically retrieve figures from linked sources.

Drafting and review

Initial explanatory drafts used AI assistance, with worked-example arithmetic checked during development. This does not establish that an expert reviewed every source or that a result is an official finding. Mathematical precision must be distinguished from measurement accuracy and source uncertainty. We do not invent data verification, professional credentials or a source review that has not occurred.

Corrections

Report an issue through Contact Prismly, including the affected URL, example inputs and expected result. For a source concern, identify the dataset, table, geographic unit and period. Avoid sending private household records. Corrections should address both the formula and its explanation; a substantive review or update should be reflected by a meaningful page date.

Advertising and commercial relationships

Advertising, when present, is separate from calculator controls and explanatory content. An advertisement is not a recommendation from Prismly. Any affiliate or sponsored relationship should be disclosed with the relevant content. Commercial relationships must not alter results or be presented as independent verification.

Interpretation limits

Use these tools to organize and explain a calculation. They do not establish why residents moved, whether a neighborhood is suitable for a particular person, or what policy a community should adopt. Consult the underlying records and relevant analysis before drawing those conclusions. Review the terms and privacy policy for website use and information handling.
