Privacy policy

Updated October 4, 2026.

This policy explains information associated with using Prismly’s population, housing and percentage-change calculators, browsing its guides and contacting the site operator. Prismly is an independent educational website, not a government agency or Census data service.

Calculator inputs

The calculators use numbers you enter to explain population growth, density, housing vacancy and percentage change. You do not need a user account to use them. Enter aggregate figures rather than names, household addresses, student or identity numbers, or other sensitive information. The calculator arithmetic runs in your browser; a website visit can still produce technical records independently of those calculations.

Contact messages

The contact form asks for your name, email address and message. These details are processed so the operator can receive your inquiry, investigate a reported issue and respond. Hosting and message-delivery services may process the submission, and correspondence may remain in message or email records. Do not send passwords, identity documents or private household records. For a calculator issue, send the page URL and non-identifying example numbers.

Technical information

Website hosting and security services may receive IP addresses, request dates, requested URLs, browser information, referring pages and error records. These records support page delivery, troubleshooting and protection against misuse. Some of this information, including IP addresses and contact details, can be personal information. Browser-based arithmetic does not mean that all website activity is anonymous or that the host keeps no logs.

Cookies and browser storage

WordPress may use cookies for administrators signing in or managing the website. Public calculator use does not require an administrator login. Cookies and similar storage can also be used by other enabled services. You can review and delete stored site data through your browser settings; clearing it may reset preferences. Where a consent control is available, use it to manage the choices it presents. Browser controls do not delete correspondence or hosting logs.

Advertising and third-party services

If advertising is enabled, vendors including Google may use cookies or similar technologies to deliver and measure advertisements. Google’s advertising cookies can enable Google and its partners to serve ads based on visits to this and other websites, including personalized advertising where permitted. Read Google’s information about partner websites, Google’s Privacy Policy and My Ad Center for provider information and advertising choices. Other advertising choices may be available through YourAdChoices.

Advertising availability can change. An ads.txt entry identifies an authorized advertising seller; it does not establish that ads are currently displayed. External resources or embedded content, when loaded, can receive connection information under the provider’s own practices. Links to external datasets take you to independently operated websites with their own privacy policies.

Purposes, access and retention

Contact information is used to handle inquiries and corrections. Technical information supports website delivery, maintenance and security. Enabled advertising services process information for their delivery and measurement purposes. Access may be provided to hosting, messaging and other relevant service providers, or where a disclosure is required by applicable law.

Contact correspondence, hosting logs and provider-held records have different retention settings. We do not promise that every record is deleted when you close a calculator or clear cookies. For information about a specific record or a deletion request, contact the operator. Records needed for security, an unresolved inquiry or applicable obligations may need to be retained.

Your choices and privacy requests

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or other choices concerning your personal information. Use the contact page to explain your request. We may need reasonable verification before disclosing or changing a record. Include only the information needed to identify the request. Provider controls can address information held by those providers; contact us separately about a message you submitted to Prismly.

Children, security and changes

Do not submit a child’s identifying information or sensitive records. A parent or guardian may contact us about information supplied by a child. No website can guarantee absolute security. We may update this policy as services or practices change and revise the date above.

Contact the operator

Send privacy questions, correction requests and concerns through Contact Prismly. Do not include passwords or identity documents in an initial inquiry.
